Wayne Kelly is a long-time photojournalism educator and former photojournalist for The Indianapolis Star and the Los Angeles Times. He has covered plane crashes and natural disasters and hobnobbed with film stars while a photographer and editor at the Times. In 1971 he opened a corporate photography business and served major corporate and public relations/advertising firms. He has traveled the U.S., Mexico and Europe on assignments and speaking engagements.

He started the photojournalism option at California State University, Long Beach, in 1976 and the program quickly became one of the best small programs in the United States. Former students now hold important positions in newspapers, wire services and commercial photo operations across America; three served as personal photographers to President George W.
